Four designs for the WEMountain landing page

We show the look and feel of each design first and then where each one came from. At the end there is an idea about the mountain that could sit underneath any of them.

Design 1 · Where it came from

Design 1 comes from our previous proposal

The condensed type and the electric blue and the full-height photography panels were all set out in the first proposal we shared with you. Design 1 carries them into the landing page.

Design 1 · Signal

Design 1 is built around condensed type and a single electric blue

Condensed uppercase headlines and one electric blue give the page the feel of a signpost on the ridge. It is hard to miss and it leaves no room for hedging.

Content wipes upward into view as you scroll in the way that conditions surface on the mountain. The Safety Angels sit on solid blue panels with their own words beside them.

Design 2 · Where it came from

Design 2 comes from your old manual

The colour blocks and the section labels and the diagram language come straight from the printed ISTA manual. Design 2 brings that printed feel onto the screen.

Design 2 · Field guide

Design 2 borrows from the pages of a printed manual

Monospace type on cream paper with hi-vis accents borrows from the field guides and route cards that riders already carry. It reads as something written down for you to use.

This is the design that puts the rider's own responsibility at the centre. The page feels like your own notes on how to ride well.

Design 3 · Where it came from

Design 3 mixes the brand guideline with two athlete sites

The colour and the type come from the brand guideline. The layout and the way an athlete is presented come from the Mick Fanning profile page and the Florence Marine X membership page.

Design 3 · Flagship Homepage

Design 3 is the Flagship Homepage in the ink and snow system

Archivo with IBM Plex Mono instrumentation on an ink and snow palette, with a single teal accent for highlights, offers and discounts. Editorial sections, sketch illustrations and instrument cards give it the calm authority of a technical house.

Video-only hero, the Training System and Responsibility Code cards, an editorial Knowledge index and the Le quiz email capture. It is the direction we recommend for the season 26/27 homepage.

Design 4 · Digital Flagship

Design 4 shows where we would like to head in the future

An ink and snow palette with a single grotesk family and monospace instrumentation. A video-only hero, cinematic imagery and light editorial interludes — Judgement, Field notes and Our commitment to the mountain — give the page rhythm and depth.

The hero and the closing section stay pinned while the next one is revealed underneath. Conditions change the image. Signals expand on tap. The experts rotate, and Dominique Perret’s story links to his own profile page.

Design 4 · Dominique Perret

Design 4 continues onto a page for Dominique Perret

The co-founder page follows the same system as the landing page. A portrait hero leads into a record of his achievements and a short account of his mission at WEMountain.

Scroll-driven image reveals unmask the mountain as you move deeper into his story, closing on an archive gallery. The same template can carry every expert and Safety Angel.

The idea · A possibility for any of the four

The mountain could be the protagonist of the page

WEMountain does not sell the mountain. It prepares people to meet it. So on any version of the page the mountain could lead and the rider could answer.

Photography would be wide and unposed. Copy would speak about conditions before it speaks about courses. The brand would step back so the terrain can speak first.

The idea · Changing conditions

The mountain changes by the hour and the page could too

Weather moving over a ridge

Weather

Wind and temperature and visibility shift within the hour. What was safe at nine is a different slope at noon.

Rider studying snow conditions

Snowpack

Layers build and bond and fail over days. The surface rarely tells you what is underneath.

Steep terrain

Terrain

Slope angle and aspect and traps stay put. How they behave depends on the two above.

In the designs this becomes motion. Content reveals itself as you scroll because on the mountain nothing is given to you all at once.

The idea · Individual responsibility

Choosing to ride means taking responsibility for the decision

I

Choose

No one is sent into the backcountry. Riding is a decision and the responsibility that comes with it belongs to the person who made it.

II

Read

Conditions can be read. Signals in weather and snow and terrain mean something to a rider who has learned to see them.

III

Know

Breadth of knowledge is what turns risk into something you can mitigate. Online lessons and terrain courses and the people who have done it before.

The idea · Saving others

Riders are not only saving themselves

Training gives a rider the ability to save the people around them. Victor's rescue at the Col de Creblet is the clearest example we have. He was first on the scene because he knew what to do.

Design 3 already carries this in the section called Knowledge used when it matters. The story plays as a film behind the words and closes on a single line about looking after each other. We think this could be one of the most powerful messages on the page.

You carry a shovel for your friends. They carry one for you.

Next steps

What we need from you to move forward

  1. 1Choose a design or tell us which elements from each you want to keep.
  2. 2Portraits for the remaining Safety Angels and the Culture · Road life image.
  3. 3Confirmation of the season headline and the quiz link.
  4. 4We then build the chosen design for WordPress and test it on real devices.
